Dr. Palthady Ramakrishna Achar

Was born on September 9 , 1945. He had his primary and Secondary education in Puttur.

He obtained MA degree in Kannada and also obtained B .Ed and doctoral degrees. He began his career as a primary school teacher and later promoted to Pre-university college and was appointed as a Kannada lecturer.

His Tulu works include Pacche Kural, Dunipu, Bhoothala Pandya, Dr Shivarama Karanther,

Tulu Samskrithida Polabu, Tulu Nad-da Nagabrahmer etc.

Works on Tulu culture: Tuluvara Janapada Kathegalu, Janapada Spandana, Janapada Kunitha, Kalkuda Kallurti etc..

Other works: Bangla Vijaya (Yakshagana), Kirana, Antharbhutha, Namma Sarkara, Kavya Rashmi etc…

Lyrics to cassettes: Tuluva Siri, Tuluva Mallige and Athereda Poo etc….

Honours and awards: Tulu Sahitya Academy book award 1995 for his work Tulu Dialect,District Rajyotsava Award 1995, president of the 10th Tulu Sahitya Sammelan held at Mumbai in 2001 , Tulu Kuta Udupi decennial award in 1995 for his contribution for the study of Tulu language. Served as president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.

D. Yadupathi Gowda

Born on July 20th 1960 in Poduvettu village of Belthangadi.MA in Kannada and MPhil from Mangalore University.After serving in several fields presently working as Principal of Vani PU College at Belthangadi;presented papers in many state level seminars.

Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli

He was born June 29th 1956 at Kukkuvalli in Irde village of Puttur Taluk. MA, MEd degree holder, presently teaches Political Science at Gurupr Government Pre-University SchoolMangalore.Mr Kukkuvallu is the manager of the Tulu news channel of “Namma Kudla”,Mangalore and he is the editor of “Samparka”, monthly.

Works:-Oddologa,Yakshika,YakshaBantaru,Yaksha Pramila etc.

He has given talks,discourses and arranged dramas, Yakshagana programmes and DD anchored direct beeming in V4 Media.

Awards:-Suvarna Karnatake District Rajyotsava Award, Sourabha Prashasti, Vidyaratna Birudu Prashasti etc.Kukkuvalli publiched “Nai per” Tulu working 2010.

Simantur Chandrahasa Suvarna

Born on March 12th 1955 in Shimatur Village of Mulki Hobli in Magalore Taluk. BCom graduate.

Works:- Tulu dramsa-Kalagarana Kolegare Eer?, Undu va Nyaya?, Gala, Goddu Yer?,Agnisakshi, Chakra, Sayyerandala Budle.

Tulu poetry Collection:- Oral,Osar.

Religious Literature:- Bappanadu Kshetra Mahatme.

Prizes and Awards:- His short story-“Nanna Hendati Huduki Kodi” won first prize in 1995.Best Drama Award for “Sayyerandale Budle” drama. “Gaggara” story won first prize.Kannada cultural foundation, Bahrain gave second and third prize for his kannada and tulu poems respectevely in 2010.Kannada seva sangha, Mumbai conferred Kannada Jyothi award in 2010.

Dayananda G Kattalsar

Born on April 20th 1995, Kattalsir studied upto pre-university classes and he is serving as a post man at head post office.

Works:- Pingara, Nempu.

He is the joint secretary of Dharmasthala Gramabhivridhi Yojane and President Pombadara Abhyudaya Yuvajana Seva Trust(R),Paduperar.

Dr. K Padmanaba Kekunnaya

Born in Kadumanadka in Adoor village of Kasaragod taluk on May 2nd , 1957. After highschool education in the Government Secondary school , Adoor, he recieved his BA

Degree from St Philomena College Puttur. Recieved MA degree from Madras University. He obtained Ph D in linguistics . He took up DTP work of books in Tulu, Kannada, Sanskrit, English, Konkani and Hindi languagaes as his main profession. Presented papers in seminars including conferences on lingustics and philology conducted by Kerala University and in seminar conducted by the Sthalanamadhyayana Samsthe, and in workshops conducted by Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Samshodhana Kendra , Udupi. Also

presented papers and delivered lectures on many other occasions.

Books authored: “A Comparitive Study of Tulu Dialects” (research work); “Rev August Maner” (Introduction of personality in Tulu), “Tulu Bhasha Prabhedagalu”, “Kaveri” (Tulu).

Awards and honours: Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy prize 1995 to his work “Tulu Dialects.” Decenial Award of Tulu Kuta Udupi for his contribution i n the field of study of Tulu language.Special honour by conferring the post of Convenor of the Central Committee of the 74th all India Kanada Sahitya Sammelan , 2007 held at Udupi.

Smt. Premalatha T Rao

Born in Puttur on March 5, 1948. Recieved her B A Degree from Vivekananda College, Puttur.

She was felicitated by Justice Shivaraj Patil at the 23d Rashtriya Kannada Sammelan held at Delhi for her contribution in the filed of co-operation.

She is involved in activities for the cause of Tulu language and Tulu organisations. Member of Tulu Sahitya Academy.

Dr. Duggappa Kajekar

Was born on August 2nd at Kajekar in Madantyarand obtained MA degree and M Phil in sociology from Mangalore University. He served as Registrar of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya

Academy and Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy. Presented papers in national and statde level seminars.

His published works are: “Research Methodolgy” in 2008, a guide for BA final year students of Mangalore University.

Published articles: “Kumbarike Dakshina Kannadada Vyapthiyalli published in the Grama Samskrithi series of Kannada Pusthaka Pradhikara ; “Occupational mobolity among Kulals,” and Meesalathi mattu Kulalaru”.

Presentation of papers: Presented papers in Karnataka state level Sociology conference held at Hassan and at the national level seminar on sociology held at Mangalore.

Editorial work: Served as managing editor of Madipu quarterly of Tulu Academy and brought out four issues of the magazine. He was also the managing editor of “Konkani Sirisampada” quartely of Konkani Sahitya Acadmy and published several issues of the magazine.

Smt. Rathnavathi G Bykady

Rathnavathi G Bykady was born at Kunjibettu near Udupi on June 1, 1956 and recieved her primary education in Kadiyali Upper Primary school and highschool education in Kamalabai Highs chool Kadiyali. After finishinbg her Pre -University education at MGM College , Udupi, she had degree education in the then Government College, Mangalore. Presently she is serving as an assistant language lecturer at Besant Pre-University College, Mangalore.

She had her Karnatic music tutelage under veteran music teacher late N K Sunderacharya.Smt Bykady has won several prizes in singing Bhava Gana and folklore singing at several competions including University level events. She has played roles in dramas and TV serials too. She won best actress award for her role Debe in Gondolu drama at the state level drama competition. She has won several awards for her comntribution to the cultural field. She was jointly honoured by the Chiknayakanahalli Lions Club and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy at a programme held at Chiknayakanahalli.

In 2005 she was felicitated by former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda at the Vishwakarma conclave held at Puttur.

Sarapady Ashoka Shetty

He was born in Ajilamogru Village on April 6, 1961 and after his highschool education recieved Yakshagana natya training under veteran Yakshagana artiste Padre Chandu at Sri Kshthra Dharmasthala. Sarapady served Yakshagana Melas including Sri Kateel Mela , Aladangady Mela, Kumbale Mela, Sri Mangaladevi Mela , Sri Kadri Mela etc..He earned name and fame for his Yakshagana roles like Arjuna, Devendra, Raktabeeja, Koundlika, Shatrughna and Indrajithu. Mr Sarapady has also authored several Yakshagana Prasangas and has directed them on Yakshagana stage.

He was felicitated by his admirers and fans in Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad.

Literary works : Six Yaaakshagana Prasangas including Vijayapushpa, Satyadaiva Chamundi, Sarapadida Sarpa and Srikrishna Devaraya (historical) and directed them also.

Honours and awards: Swatanatrya Swarna jayanthi award, Bantwal Taluk award , Bantwal Taluk 9th Sahitya Sammelan Prashasti, DK District Rajyotsava Award for the year 2002 etc.

Udaya Dharmasthala

Born on May 7, 1956 , Udaya Dharmasthala has settled in Bangalore. He has published poetry collections including Samsara, Mandara, Chittara and Rangasthala. His detective novels are Bostannina Kolegaduka and Amavasyeya Angala.

Mr Udaya Dharmasthala has published periodicals including Ramya Bheekara monthly, and Balavihara, pictoral monthly for children.

He has served as general secretary of Tuluverenkulu cultural organisation , Bangalore.

He recieved honours including Kannada Siri Prashasti, Snehajeevi Prashasti, Sadhaka Rathna Prashasti and was honoured by senior freedom fighter late G Narayana during Rajyotsava celebration.

Yogish Kanchan

Born in Bycompady in Mangalore taluk Mr Yogish Kanchan has contributed articles, stories, and poems to various newspapers and periodicals.

His dramas, poems and stories have also beemed in Akashavani .

He has served as executiv e committee member of Tulu Sahitya Parishat and Tuluverenkulu Kudla (R) and is also executive committee member of Akhila Bharatha Tuluvere Okkuta.

His six dramas have been published and his novel awaits publication. His other work in Pannambaro.

Vilas Kumar Nitte

He was born at Nitte in Karkala Taluk of Udupi district on September 23 , 1978. He is a B.Com graduate. He began writing dramas in his 19th year and has been serving Tulu

stage since last many years. His early dramas were Guthuda Gurkare, Muttaisi Madmal, Thelikeda Nalike, Gaggara, Badi Bangar etc. Mr Nitte established his own drama troupe

Namana Kalavider Nitte and he has recieved over 400 felicitations.

He won Rajesh Shibaje award for his contribution to the field of journalism. His Gaggara drama won the first prize in drama writing event in 2002.

Other awards he won are Dharmasthala Rathnaverma Prashasti etc His works also include Kambulada Nadutonji Kathe. Presently he is a reporter in Vijaya Karnataka Kannada daily.
